Dr. Tao Sun received his Ph.D degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong, and completed his undergraduate studies in Materials Science and Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology.  His academic endeavour span from flexible electronics to neural engineering, with the focus on advanced microelectromechanical system (MEMS) technologies. Dr. Sun used to be a research scientist in MIT Media Lab from 2018 to 2020 to develop a flexible piezoelectric micro-device for medical applications, and a staff scientist from 2020 to 2021 in Northwell Healthcare for the development of a novel flexible neural interface. Prior to continuing academic career in US, Dr Sun was a research scientist to develop miniaturized medical devices in Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), a governmental research institute in Singapore since 2010. Dr. Sun’s research work was highlighted by MIT news, and reported by national funding agencies, such as NSF and NIH.
